Professor Dr.Jagannath Mohanty, a well known educationist and children writer of Odisha has passed away at the age of 74, on 12th March 2011 at his Gouri Nagar Residence,Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
Dr.Mohanty was awarded his Ph.D. in Education in 1979 from Utkal University. He had been to United Kingdom twice for Higher Studies. He has acted in various capacities under the Department of Education starting from a teacher to Professor in Education.
He is a distinguished author in Odia having 118 books to his credit of which two third are for children.
He has been awarded by the Ministry of Education, National Council of Educational Research & Training and Odisha Sahitya Academy for Children Literature.
Dr.Mohanty has been felicitated by various organizations in and out side the state for his outstanding contributions in the field of children literature. He has constituted 'Manikya- Viswanath Memorial Trust' in sweet memory of his parents which has been functioning for the benefits of Odia Children writers and children literature.
Dr. Mohanty is the President of All India Juvenile Literary Conference(AIJLC), Odisha Chapter and also the President of its Central Council.
